Role at CDC

Dr. Dana Meaney-Delman serves as the inaugural principal deputy director for NCBDDD.

Previous experience

Dr. Meaney-Delman began her career at CDC in 2012 as the senior advisor for preparedness in NCEZID OD. In that role, she coordinated all preparedness activities for the center and served in all emergency responses exercises and responses, including anthrax lab incident, DOD sample investigation, flu exercises and Ebola. In 2016–2017, she co-led the Zika Pregnancy and Infant Task Force and co-founded the Zika Pregnancy and Infant Registry. This registry served as the basis for the formation of SET-NET, the Surveillance of Emerging Threats to Mothers and Babies Network. During the COVID-19 response, she served as the principal deputy incident manager, and Vaccine Task Force lead. She also served as the lead for maternal COVID-19 immunization response and led the prioritization of vaccine for pregnant people, co-founding the V-Safe Pregnancy Registry.

Most recently, she served as the chief of the Infant Outcomes Monitoring Branch in the Division of Birth Defects and Infant Disorders. Dana is an accomplished and respected member of the CDC and NCBDDD teams. She continues to model the call to serve in our CDC readiness and response activities by recently advising and participating in mpox, dengue and Oropouche responses.
